Kolukkumala Munnar

Kolukkumala is a green paradise 30 Kms from Munnar. As it is on the Kerala Tamil Nadu border we can have a glimpse of the beauty of Tamil Nadu and Kerala. Kolukkumala is the highest peak spot where tea grows. The Tea is world famous. This place is noted for its misty climate throughout the year. In summer when the sky is cloudless everywhere, it is interesting to see the misty hills in the wonderful places in Munnar.

kolukkumalaIs there any better place to have a refreshing cup of tea than the hills of Kolukkumala, which are home to the highest tea plantations in the world and the tea grown here has a special flavour and freshness.

The hilly haven of Munnar has long been favoured for family vacations, for its misty views, colonial bungalows, and Tea plantations extending in every direction. But around 38km from Munnar, across the border in Tamil Nadu, lies a lesser-known plantation heaven  the glorious tea estate of Kolukkumala, perched at 8,100ft above sea level and arguably the highest tea plantation in the world.

kolukkumalaThe famous sun rise view which you can see from here if there is no heavy mist. Best place for nature lovers. Trekking was too adventurous. Not recommended for old age people. Recently the Jeep drivers have started taking people for night stay in camp. People are throwing all left over eatables and plastics which needs to be stopped to save the Eco system and  Beautifully nature of munnar.

Jeep is the only vehicle allowed till the highest point in Here. Even though the journey is very adventure and wonderfully feel totally very good place. The peak gives a beautiful view of both Tamil Nadu and Kerala. The green carpet look of the beautiful tea estates is really heavenly.
kolukkumalaWe suggested to tourist really must go to the place. Tourist can visit at the Kolukkumala tea factory in there, where you can see the  traditional tea processing. For elderly people and infants it is less advisable. Because the stony off road route of 6 km to the top would be difficult for them. there is an a view of Meesapulimala‘s one side

Also there is another way to go to Kolukkumala , the Kerala forest department tour packages offering the trucking for Kolukkumala
